Larry is both an Australian and South African Chartered Accountant whose professional career includes Manager of KPMG's Johannesburg tax office, group tax adviser to the Standard Bank Group of South Africa (the largest commercial banking group in Southern Africa at the time), Corporate Finance Executive for Standard Merchant Bank and Director and minority shareholder of Standard Bank Development Finance (the Standard Bank Group's venture capital arm).
Larry also has a wealth of experience in contract negotiation, small business development and structured finance (including in the international film industry - having structured, financed and distributed over a dozen independent international feature films - commencing in 1985 with the South African classics "Jock of the Bushveld" and "Saturday Night at The Palace").
In December 1993 Larry and his family immigrated to Perth, Western Australia to participate in a joint venture with Barron Filmed Entertainment, the largest film and television producer in WA. He formed Toucan Films (which provides film finance and production services) and became a founder of West Coast Pictures that produced the feature film "Justice". In 1995 Larry was appointed as the national Film Consultant for Deutsche Bank Structured Finance.
In 1999 Larry became a shareholder and director of Southern Aurora Australia Pty Ltd ("SAA"), the national distributor of Ferretti Group Yachts and in 2002 became a founder member and manager of Dreamboats Luxury Motor Yacht Club, a timeshare boat club which operated out of the Perth Flying Squadron Yacht Club in Dalkeith and provided access to over $2,5m of luxury boats to its members. Larry continues his passion of boating through a syndicated ownership with his son Ricky in the 58' Fairline "FELINE" berthed at South of Perth Yacht Club.
Larry is a director of Worldly Enterprises Pty Ltd, a boutique venture capital firm focusing on the commercialisation of unique West Australian products and technologies.
In 2005 Larry joined House & Home Loans as a finance consultant and mortgage broker.
In January 2009 Larry commenced his own mortgage finance business Charter Mortgage & Finance Pty Ltd in association with his good friend Barry Levin of Charter Financial Services. Larry has been listed as being in the Top 100 Mortgage Brokers in Australia multiple times. Larry is an accredited member of The Mortgage Finance Association of Australia ("MFAA").
Larry is the the immediate Past Chairman of Rotary Means Business, Past President of Rotary Club or Perth 2016/7, and Past Commodore of International Fellowship of Yachting Rotarians (“IFYR”). Larry's contribution to Rotary and the community has been recognised by him being awarded a prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship.
In March 2012 Larry became a founding shareholder of Quickboats Holdings Pty Ltd, the developer of the Quickboat collapsible boat.
Larry and his family are involved in a number of residential property developments.
Larry is the Co Executive Producer of the 2019 Sci-fi feature “I am Mother” starring double Academy Award winning actress Hillary Swank.
Larry is an active tennis player, presently President of North Shore Tennis Club and the Northern Districts Tennis Association.
